It is imperative that at Yolo India, these pre-existing community guidelines regarding hate speech be assessed and taken into account while forming new guidelines for the platform. The essence from these guidelines must be considered with an understanding of the strengths and the weaknesses while formulating new guidelines. While certain reasonable restrictions on hate speech must be implemented, the freedom of expression must in no way be abandoned. Responsibility to curb hate speech must be taken by not only by the administrators of the platform, but also by all the people associated with and involved in it. This essentially means that each and every person on the platform must ensure that no form of hate speech is practiced on the platform, and that any such activity is notified to the authorities. The well-being of all the users must be in the interest of all the stakeholders of the platform. The community guidelines of Yolo must ensure that all the users are well aware of the available grievance redressal facilities in case any individual comes across any content on the app that may appear hateful or offensive; the users must also be made to feel safe in doing so. Recurrent offenders on the app must be strictly penalised in order to maintain the stance of intolerance against any form of hate speech. Moreover, there must also be certain guidelines with regards to what is and what is not acceptable behaviour on the platform as there is often ambiguity over the level of tolerance that people have. While the guidelines must be extensive, it must also be ensured that the implementation of those is equally effective. In order for Yolo to perform with maximum efficiency, any problematic users must be recognised and penalised in a timely manner.
